Our Commitment

At Bizzy Day, we believe that everyone should be able to find an available tradesperson and manage their business — regardless of their abilities or the technologies they use. We are committed to providing a web application and marketing website that are accessible to the widest possible audience.

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, an internationally recognised standard for web accessibility developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines help us make our content accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. As we continuously improve Bizzy Day with new features and updates, we ensure that accessibility remains a core consideration in our design and development process.

Essential accessibility features that all websites should meet.

  • All images have descriptive alt text
  • Keyboard navigation is fully supported
  • Form labels are properly associated with inputs
  • Colour is not the only means of conveying information
  • Page language is declared in HTML

Level AA

Enhanced accessibility for improved usability — our primary target.

  • Sufficient colour contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text)
  • Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content
  • Multiple ways to navigate and locate content
  • Consistent navigation across all pages
  • Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements

Technologies We Rely On

Bizzy Day relies on the following technologies to work with your browser and any assistive technologies or plugins you have installed:

  • HTML5 — semantic structure and landmarks
  • WAI-ARIA — accessible rich internet application attributes
  • CSS3 / Tailwind CSS — responsive and flexible styling
  • JavaScript / React — interactive components
  • SVG — scalable vector icons with appropriate labels

JavaScript must be enabled for the application to function. The marketing website (bizzy.day) is largely readable without JavaScript but some interactive elements require it.

Assessment Methods

We assess the accessibility of Bizzy Day through the following methods:

  • Self-evaluation — internal testing against WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria
  • Automated testing — regular scans using Lighthouse, axe, and WAVE
  • Manual testing — keyboard-only navigation and screen reader testing
  • Colour contrast checks — verified against WCAG contrast ratio requirements
  • Responsive testing — verified across mobile, tablet, and desktop viewports

Third-Party Calendar Links

In Progress

Links to Checkatrade and Trustatrader on tradesperson profiles are third-party pages whose accessibility we cannot control.

What we're doing: We include clear link labels so users know they are leaving Bizzy Day. We encourage tradespeople to link to accessible external profiles.

Mobile App (iOS & Android)

Coming Soon

Native iOS and Android apps are currently in development.

What we're doing: Accessibility is a core design principle for both apps. They will follow iOS and Android platform accessibility guidelines (VoiceOver / TalkBack) on launch.

Complex Calendar Grid

In Progress

The AM/PM availability calendar grid in the tradesperson dashboard is complex for screen readers navigating many cells.

What we're doing: We are improving ARIA grid roles, cell labels, and keyboard interaction patterns to make the calendar fully navigable without a mouse.

Bizzy Day is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers — NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), TalkBack (Android)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software (e.g. Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
  • Alternative input devices — keyboard-only, switch devices
  • Browser zoom up to 200%

We test regularly with the latest versions of popular screen readers and browsers to maintain compatibility.

Standards & Guidelines

Bizzy Day aims to conform to the following standards:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA — Web Content Accessibility Guidelines from the W3C
  • EN 301 549 — European standard for ICT accessibility
  • Equality Act 2010 — UK legislation requiring reasonable adjustments for disabled users

This accessibility statement was prepared on 7 May 2026 and will be reviewed and updated at least annually.
