Honest comparison — checked July 2026

The best app for tradespeople, compared

Bizzy Day vs Tradify, Powered Now, TradeMore, Mucka and Billdu — side by side on features, ease of use and monthly price, using each provider's published UK pricing and feature pages.

Full disclosure: Bizzy Day is our product. So we've kept this factual — every claim below comes from each provider's own published pages, and we've dated everything. Spot something out of date? Tell us and we'll fix it.

One difference matters more than any other

All five alternatives are back-office tools: they help you manage work you've already won. None of them gives you a public profile customers can search, or shows your availability to the public. Bizzy Day does both — it's where customers find you and where you run the job afterwards.

The alternatives in depth

What each app does well — and what to check before you commit.

Tradify

Established job management software

A mature all-in-one job management platform from New Zealand (owned by the UK's Access Group since 2024), used by around 20,000 trade businesses. It covers the full enquiry-to-payment workflow: quoting, scheduling, job tracking, timesheets, invoicing and payments.

Pricing: £34–£44 per user per month in the UK (Lite £34, Pro £37, Plus £44). AI tools (SmartRead bill scanning, SmartWrite descriptions) need the £44 Plus tier. Optional website add-on £10/month. 14-day free trial, no free plan.

Where it shines

  • Deep job management — timesheets, subcontractors, purchase orders, job costing
  • UK gas and electrical certificates (CP12, EICR, EIC, PAT) on Pro tier and up
  • Xero, QuickBooks and Sage accounting sync
  • Strong ratings: 4.7 on Capterra, 4.8 on Trustpilot and the App Store

Worth knowing

  • No public profile, directory or marketplace — customers can't find you through Tradify
  • No availability visible to customers, and no lead generation beyond its £10/month website add-on
  • Per-user pricing adds up fast for teams; reviewers flag cost at 10+ staff
  • Cheapest way in is £34/month — about 5× Bizzy Day Standard

Powered Now

UK field service management veteran

A UK company (Isle of Wight, founded 2012) building strongly UK-centric field service software: quotes, invoices, work diary, 80+ digital forms and certificates, Making Tax Digital VAT submission, CIS support and full offline mode.

Pricing: £28–£40 per user per month excluding VAT (Business £28, Professional £32, Premium £40; two months free on annual billing). Gas certificates need the £32 tier; drag-and-drop scheduling, customer portal and automated chasing need the £40 tier. AI Receptionist is a £29–£39/month add-on. 14-day free trial, no free plan.

Where it shines

  • The most UK-compliance-focused option: MTD VAT returns, CIS/DRC, 80+ certificates
  • Full offline mode — works with no signal, syncs later
  • Excellent support reputation (4.9/5 support score on Capterra)
  • Customer portal for existing clients on the Premium tier

Worth knowing

  • No public profile, marketplace or customer search — back-office software only
  • No availability visible to customers; its Here Is My Work portfolio product explicitly avoids being a directory
  • Key features are gated behind higher tiers — scheduling drag-and-drop costs £40/user/month
  • Reviewers describe pricing as high versus alternatives; mobile apps rate lower (~4.1) than its web reviews

TradeMore

Checkatrade's AI job management app

Launched by Checkatrade in September 2025, TradeMore combines a unified message inbox (Checkatrade leads, email, WhatsApp Business), AI quoting from chat or voice, automated quote follow-ups, team scheduling and an AI receptionist that answers missed calls 24/7.

Pricing: Free Solo plan (quoting, invoicing, inbox — no AI). Paid plans jump to £50/month for Solo Pro (75 AI calls, AI quoting), then £200/month for teams up to 4 users, rising to £520/month for 15 users.

Where it shines

  • Genuinely free entry plan with quoting and invoicing
  • Unified inbox pulling Checkatrade leads, email and WhatsApp into one feed
  • AI receptionist answers your missed calls around the clock
  • Gas and electrical certificate generation

Worth knowing

  • No public profile or customer search within TradeMore itself — discovery stays on the separate Checkatrade marketplace with its own membership costs
  • No availability visible to customers and no Google/Apple calendar sync listed
  • No expense tracking
  • Steep jump from free to £50/month; early App Store rating of 3.7 from a small number of reviews

Mucka

AI-first admin assistant

A Brighton startup (founded 2025) building an AI 'operating system' for trades: capture jobs by voice note, phone or WhatsApp, and the AI drafts quotes, chases payments, books work and briefs your team — everything approved with one tap before it sends.

Pricing: Limited free tier (30 AI replies/month, manual documents). Solo £29/month excluding VAT with unlimited AI features and 60 AI receptionist minutes; Team £39 per user per month. 14-day free trial.

Where it shines

  • The most ambitious AI feature set — proactive chasing, WhatsApp briefings, voice receptionist
  • Live quotes customers can e-sign online
  • Gas CP12 certificates; Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent sync
  • Ships updates every week or two

Worth knowing

  • No public profile, marketplace or customer-visible availability — assumes you already have customers
  • No expense or profit tracking (it tracks money owed to you, not your costs)
  • Very new: tiny review base (a handful of App Store ratings) and its headline AI receptionist was still in early access
  • £29/month entry — about 3× Bizzy Day Pro AI for the AI tools

Billdu

Budget invoicing app

A Slovakia-built invoicing and estimates app (founded 2011, part of the team.blue group) aimed at small businesses generally rather than trades specifically. Polished mobile apps for invoices, estimates, expenses and card payments, with add-on booking and website tools.

Pricing: No UK pricing published — plans are listed at $4.99–$27.99/month (roughly £4–£21) depending on tier and annual vs monthly billing. Lower tiers cap your client list (10 clients on Lite, 50 on Standard). 7-day trial, no free plan.

Where it shines

  • Cheapest paid option of the five if you only need paperwork
  • Excellent app-store ratings at scale (4.8 App Store, 4.6 Google Play)
  • Solid invoicing polish: templates, e-signatures, open tracking, card payments
  • Expense tracking with a receipt scanner

Worth knowing

  • Not trade software: no job diary (its booking app is salon-style appointment slots), no certificates, no CIS or Making Tax Digital support
  • No public profile, marketplace or customer search — and no AI features at all
  • Client caps on cheaper tiers are restrictive for a working tradesperson
  • Support is its weakest review dimension, with recurring complaints about slow responses

Where's Bizzy Day's score? We're newer than most of these apps and don't yet have a large published review base — so rather than quote a number that means little, we'd suggest judging for yourself: listing is free, with no card required.

So which is best?

Honestly — it depends what your business needs most.

You issue gas or electrical certificates every week

Powered Now or Tradify are the strongest picks — digital CP12s, EICRs and MTD/CIS compliance are their home turf. Budget £28–£44 per user per month.

You only need invoices and estimates, as cheap as possible

Billdu is hard to beat on price for pure paperwork — just check the client caps, and know it does nothing for scheduling, compliance or getting found.

You miss calls constantly and want AI to run your admin

Mucka (£29/month) and TradeMore (£50/month) both put an AI receptionist and AI quoting at the centre. Both are very new — check the review volume before committing.

You want more customers — and to run the business you've got

Bizzy Day is the only one of the six where customers can actually find you: a searchable public profile with your live availability, plus jobs, quotes, invoices, expenses and AI tools from £6.99–£9.99/month flat.

And they're not all mutually exclusive: because Bizzy Day's listing is free, plenty of tradespeople use it for discovery alongside whatever back-office tool they already run — then consolidate later if the built-in job tools cover what they need.

Try the only app that brings customers to you

List free today. Upgrade to Standard (£6.99/month) for the live calendar and job tools, or Pro AI (£9.99/month) for voice quoting, receipt OCR and more. Cancel any time.
