Cookie Policy
How Bizzy Day uses cookies and similar technologies
Last updated: 7 May 2026
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the site's operators.
In addition to traditional cookies, Bizzy Day primarily uses browser localStorage — a similar technology that stores data locally on your device rather than sending it with every request. This is more efficient and privacy-friendly for storing preferences.
Bizzy Day does not use advertising, retargeting, or social media tracking cookies. We keep our use of cookies and local storage to the minimum needed to run a secure, functional service.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies
RequiredThese are essential for the website and app to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
What they do:
- Maintain your authenticated session when logged in as a tradesperson (Supabase Auth session tokens)
- Protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF)
- Store your cookie consent preference so the banner does not reappear
Retention: Session, or up to 1 year for consent preference
Functional Cookies & Local Storage
OptionalThese store your personal preferences to improve your experience. They are only written when you actively change a setting.
What they store:
- Light / dark mode preference
- Distance units preference (miles or km)
- Cookie consent status
These are stored in browser localStorage, not as traditional cookies, so they are not transmitted to our servers with each request. Your preferences are also synced to your Supabase account (if you are a logged-in tradesperson) for cross-device consistency.
Retention: Until you clear your browser data or change the setting
Analytics & Performance Cookies
OptionalWe may use lightweight, privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the marketing website is used — for example, which pages are most visited. Any analytics data collected is aggregated and anonymised.
We do not use Google Analytics or any tracking that identifies individual users or follows them across other websites.
Retention: Up to 2 years (aggregated/anonymised)
Marketing & Advertising Cookies
Not usedBizzy Day does not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking technologies of any kind. We do not sell your data or share it with advertising networks.
3. Local Storage
Browser localStorage works similarly to cookies but is stored only on your device and is not sent to our servers automatically. We use it to save your preferences without unnecessary server round-trips.
Keys we store in localStorage:
| Key | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| bizzy_cookies_accepted | Cookie consent preference | Persistent |
| bizzy_color_scheme | Light / dark mode preference | Persistent |
| bizzy_units | Distance units (miles/km) | Persistent |
| supabase.auth.token | Authentication session (Supabase) | Session / 1 year |
You can clear localStorage at any time via your browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage → bizzy.day → Clear All).
4. Third-Party Cookies
A small number of third-party services we rely on may set their own cookies. These are governed by each provider's own privacy policy.
Supabase
Authentication, session management, and real-time database connectivity.
sb-access-token, sb-refresh-token
Stripe
Secure payment processing for tradesperson subscriptions.
__stripe_sid, __stripe_mid
Google (Calendar / OAuth)
Bidirectional Google Calendar sync and Google Sign-In (tradesperson accounts only, when you choose to connect).
Google OAuth tokens (stored server-side via Supabase, not in your browser)
We do not integrate Facebook/Meta, TikTok, advertising networks, or any other third-party tracking services on this website.
5. Managing Your Preferences
Cookie consent banner
When you first visit Bizzy Day you will see a cookie consent banner. Clicking Accept records your preference in localStorage. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for bizzy.day (see Section 3).
Browser settings
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:
- Block all cookies or third-party cookies only
- Delete existing cookies
- Be alerted when a cookie is set
Instructions for popular browsers:
Note: Blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies (especially Supabase auth tokens) will prevent you from staying logged in as a tradesperson.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal that tells websites you do not want your browsing activity tracked across sites. Because Bizzy Day does not use cross-site tracking or advertising cookies, your DNT preference does not change how the site behaves — we do not track you regardless.
We respect Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where technically feasible.
7. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
